Daniel Kaplan was born in Paris 1941, graduated
from Ecole Polytechnique in 1963 and obtained his Phd on transport
properties and spin resonance in Indium Antimonide in the Laboratoire
de Physique de la Matière Condensée directed by I. Solomon.
He
has worked at IBM TJ Watson Research Center and Thomson CSF Central
Research laboratories (LCR) where he pioneered studies on amorphous
silicon that led to flat panel displays and solar cells.
In the 1980's he was scientific director of the Compagnie Generale de
Radiologie, and later headed the Thales Corporate Central Research
Laboratories.
In 1992, he founded Alliage a company dedicated to managing industrial
reseach projects in relation with university laboratories.
