 Pierre Tournois was born in Paris, France, in 1936. He received the degree from the École Supérieure d'Optique de Paris in 1959. |
|
|
Since 1959, he has been with Thomson-CSF, first, until 1964, at Thomson
CSF Corporate Research Laboratories in Corbeville, France, where he was
engaged in the fields of laser optics, acoustic surface waves, and
radar pulse compression. |
|
From 1964 to 1981, he headed the scientific and Technical Laboratories
of the Thomson-CSF underwater sound and acoustical facility in
Cagnes-sur-Mer, France.
From 1981 to 1986, he was R&D Vice President of CGR, the medical imaging company of Thomson-CSF.

| From 1986 to 1999, he was R&D Vice President of the Thomson-CSF Aerospace Group. |
|
|
In 1999, he left Thomson-CSF to create FASTLITE with Daniel Kaplan. He
has authored or co-authored more than 80 papers in the fields of
optics, surface acoustic waves, acoustic imaging, and radar and laser
pulse compression. |
